Description

CHLORHEXIDINE (klor HEX i deen) prevents skin infection. It is often used to clean and disinfect the skin after an injury or before a procedure. It works by killing or preventing the growth of bacteria on the skin.

Dosage & Administration

How should I use this medication?

This medication is for external use only. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the label or those given to you by your care team. Keep out of eyes, ears and mouth. This medication should not be used as a preoperative skin preparation of the face or head. Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While this medication may be used for children for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

What if I miss a dose?

This does not apply; this medication is not for regular use.

Where should I keep my medication?

Keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Store away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze. Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
